Le's people, the Kraag, have been protected by Suevettian hospitality for most of her life, but that quickly changes when she angers the Monarch Scelest by offering protection to his wrongly-exiled brother, Alberretto. When Scelest's attack on the Kraag kills her husband and leads the Kraag Chieftain Bandamar to take custody of her daughter, Le vows to overthrow the Suevettian tyrant and regain what she has lost. What Le doesn't know is that Scelest's reign in Suevettia was made possible by the Kraag and that Bandamar himself had a hand in the slaughter and war that accompanied Scelest's rise to power. The truths of Le's childhood fall apart all around her even as she manages to chip away at the Monarch's authority.
A prequel to Filea's Quest, Le's War was actually the second book written. There's a great deal of overlap in setting and characters, but Le's War is a story of rebellion rather than a quest tale.
